How do you honor a veteran who bravely served our country? All of us know someone who has served our country—at one time or another—to whom our gratitude can never be fully expressed.
Chances are, since one out of six men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in his lifetime, you also know a man who has or will face this diagnosis. With so many treatment options available, it is difficult to know which one to chose. Do you know how to help research the options and select the best proven treatment?
This year, Theragenics Corporation® and its TheraSeed® prostate cancer treatment device are doing both—honoring those who have served our country and arming them, and their loved ones, with information to help them find the best proven treatment option for their prostate cancer.
Theragenics® is committed to educating men about proven treatment options for prostate cancer, including brachytherapy, a leading, non-invasive treatment. Since 2004, the Company has implemented national campaigns designed to educate men and their loved ones about proven prostate cancer treatments with the simple message, "Know Your Options." Every diagnosis is as unique as that individual, and every patient should be empowered to research and select the best proven treatment for him.
This year, Theragenics® has enlisted the help of the Honor Flight Networktm, an organization dedicated to honoring World War II veterans for their service by flying them to their respective memorial in Washington D.C. (at no cost to them), and Eric L. Haney, Command Sergeant Major (ret.), 20 year Army veteran and one of the original operators of Delta Force. Together they will honor World War II and Vietnam veterans, and help them understand the importance of taking care of their health through the To Honor. To Cure. initiative. Unfortunately, some Vietnam veterans have a higher risk of developing prostate cancer, so if they are diagnosed with the disease, the Company’s hope is that the information provided will help them make an informed decision when selecting a treatment—one that offers a cure and maintains their quality of life.
On this site, you will find information about the Honor Flights sponsored by Theragenics® that will transport more than 400 veterans to the National World War II Memorial in Washington D.C. Haney, author of Inside Delta Force, and creator of the acclaimed CBS television series "The Unit," explains why he got involved and chronicles his experience meeting with veterans nationwide, sharing their stories in his online journal.
You can get involved with To Honor. To Cure. and express your gratitude to veterans by spreading the important message: know your options to cure prostate cancer.
